This portrait is made by Gilbert Stuart in mid 1780's. It is the portrait of Robert Hare, Sr. and his daughter Martha. Robert Hare was a Philadelphia businessman, politician and speaker of the Pennsylvania Senate. The design of this picture is really cool, it is an oil paint on canvas. This painting is an open palette because, any color is permitted as you can see. I really like this portrait because of the coloring and the visual weight, which is the apparent heaviness and lightness of the forms. In this cause the visual weight is heavy and because it get my attention when i looked at the picture.
